Friday, Oct. 3

Today in class we discussed the terms and definitions from the Chapter 1 "To Be Free" handout. We also identified additional examples of the terms and applied them to Native > Native prejudice, white > white prejudice, black > black, etc.

We also watched "The Green Kid" video that showcases the attitudes of children who were told there was going to be a new kid attending their school. He is from another country and has green skin. We then discussed the importance of answering young children's questions about diversity and talking about issues as a means to encourage dialogue and acceptance/appreciation of other groups of people.

We then discussed the digital autobiography that will be our next big assignment for this class. A story board was handed out and discussed.

Assignment for Monday, Oct. 6:

Prepare the rough draft of the story board handed out in class. This includes 9 slides identified with stages of your life (in pencil). This is a rough draft but it must be started by Monday at 10 AM and shown to me.
