Exploring Diverse Populations in the U.S.

We're going to begin our exploration of distinct groups in the U.S., other than our own, for the third and last part of this class.

We'll first review the five language-related terms you were assigned to define.

This will transition us into a Powerpoint presentation and discussion about race and ethnicity in the U.S. We've talked about this before, and throughout this course, but now we're going to look in to it deeper.

Assignment for Wednesday, Nov. 20:
Be ready to identify the tribal, religious, or ethnic group that you are going to research for your presentation and Final Project. Remember, the group you choose cannot be your own. Some examples to choose from include:

• Chinese American
• Filipino American
• Somali American
• Amish or Mennonite
• Muslim
• An indigenous tribal group other than your own
• Norwegian Americans
• Irish Americans
• Italian Americans
• Mexican American
• German Russian
• Others?
